Fiona graduated with a BA in sociology/political science and geography from the National University in Ireland, Galway and received her JD from the University of New Hampshire School of Law; a member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, a member of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, a member of Ulster County Women’s Network, Hudson Valley Women in Business, and the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce.
After graduating from law school, Fiona chose to travel working in Federal Indian Law (including the Indian Child Welfare Act), Tribal Law, Family Law, and general civil litigation for domestic abuse survivors. For the past several years, she has specialized in Family Law and working with non-represented litigants. Seeing the difficulties people faced in litigation prompted Fiona to mediation. Above all, Fiona greatly enjoys working directly with people to help find solutions.
Fiona was born in Ithaca, New York, but is not “from” anywhere. She grew up all over the country and overseas -- at first due to her father’s job, but later due to a love of traveling. Having lived in seven different states and in more than six countries, she learned to adapt to her surroundings and made friends where ever she went. Fiona learned a lot from her travels -- understanding people, embracing differences, and learning how to start conversations.
Fiona is an advocate of the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities.
Fiona brings her experiences to the table, creating a space for progress and resolution with patience and understanding. Fiona believes in a solution-focused model of mediation.
On her days off, Fiona enjoys pottery, gardening, pinteresting, and hanging out with her husband, daughter and cat.
